Interesting insights. I’m not an intelligence official but I would have expected them to have much greater confidence in the lap top story than they are expressing now. I feel they did more to damage the intelligence community’s reputation than anything else.
I saw retired General Barry McCaffrey, likely on MSNBC or perhaps CNN, commenting a couple of days ago on the selection of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. He carefully distinguished between Hegseth’s ‘qualifications’—which he said were adequate—and his ‘policies,’ which he expressed concern about. I could sense a note of fear in this four-star U.S. Army general, as though he were treading carefully to avoid criticizing the (arguably ridiculous) qualifications of this potential Secretary of Defense. Perhaps he feared the possibility of being recalled into service and court-martialed. I might be mistaken, but I think this moment offered a glimpse into the pervasive fear that exists in certain circles.
I'm sure this issue is one that is in trump's mind as he salivates over retribution

Excellent reporting Sasha. I think many are fearing Trump's retribution. Rightly so. I have a feeling it's going to get ugly. God help us. 🙏
