Conversation with national security lawyer Mark Zaid, whose security clearance was apparently revoked

One day last week, top national security attorney Mark Zaid’s phone blew up. Not in a Mossad-Hezbollah sort of way, of course. “I was at a wedding of a colleague and my phone started to go off with voices of concern from friends and colleagues, and apologies,” Mark told me. “And I'm like, ‘I don't know what you're talking about.’”

He found out from a New York Post article that his security clearance had been revoked. He says he still has not received any official notification from the U.S. government.

As a lawyer who represented the whistleblower who triggered Congress’ first impeachment of President Donald Trump, was it retaliation? So begins a conversation on accountability, whistleblowing, and Mark’s fears of what could come next.
